What is Paxlovid™?
Paxlovid™ is the new anti-viral pills approved by Health Canada for mild-to-moderate COVID-19 on January 17, 2022. It is a combination of two antivirals, Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir. It is a 5-day oral course of early treatment for any variant of COVID-19. Canada has procured sufficient supplies to start those that test positive for COVID-19 on treatment.
What are the risks?
Paxlovid™ may interact with other medications and substances. The Pax Pill Bot will review any medications or substances you take before authorizing a prescription. Side effects may include high blood pressure, diarrhea, loss of taste, and muscle pain. Paxlovid™ does not prevent hospitalization or death, but when taken early in the course of COVID-19 it may reduce the risk of both.
